New York City is getting tough on eco crime. Every day officers dressed in green uniforms patrol the city to make sure no one is breaking environmental laws. Historically focused on hunting and fishing violations in Upstate New York, the force has been around since 1880. Now theyve moved to the city, where they patrol the streets armed with guns and handcuffs. Polluters beware- if you harm the environment you just might get caught.

http://electricridereview.com/ecobike/new-york/ A lower end (but hugely popular) electric scooter with pedals. This thing is used extensively by delivery guys in New York City, USA. It has basic pedals and uses a direct drive 350 watt rear hub motor. The battery is a 48 volt 12 amp hour Lead Acid design. The bike costs about $1,000 and has a top speed of 20 miles per hour. There's no pedal assist mode, just four speed levels activated by a twist throttle.
I gotta hang out with two of my favourite eco bloggers in New York for the day. Lauren Singer blogs about her zero waste lifestyle at www.trashisfortossers.com and Alden Wicker is the creator, writer and editor at her eco-zine www.ecocult.com - I was so happy to geek out with them and to see some of the awesome eco-friendly places in their Brooklyn neighbourhood.

In the financial crisis of the 1970s, large sections of New York City were abandoned by landlords and city officials. Residents revitalized their neighborhoods, reclaiming them from decay by turning vacant lots into community gardens. More than 800 gardens tipped neighborhoods away from crime, toward community action, better diets and cleaner environments. The gardens trained a generation of activists and spawned other environmental projects, in New York and overseas. From the EcoTipping Points Project [http://ecotippingpoints.org]
I visited the Zeenie Dolls booth at the 2016 New York Toy Fair. Here is my booth tour video. These eco friendly fashion dolls are made from recycled materials and they encourage children who play with them to be friendly to the planet. I plan on adding a couple of these to my collection soon.
