New York City is getting tough on eco crime. Every day officers dressed in green uniforms patrol the city to make sure no one is breaking environmental laws. Historically focused on hunting and fishing violations in Upstate New York, the force has been around since 1880. Now theyve moved to the city, where they patrol the streets armed with guns and handcuffs. Polluters beware- if you harm the environment you just might get caught.

I gotta hang out with two of my favourite eco bloggers in New York for the day. Lauren Singer blogs about her zero waste lifestyle at www.trashisfortossers.com and Alden Wicker is the creator, writer and editor at her eco-zine www.ecocult.com - I was so happy to geek out with them and to see some of the awesome eco-friendly places in their Brooklyn neighbourhood.

If youre in New York and looking for a way to blow off steam, one group of designers suggests heading straight for the bottle. An empty bottle, that is. After populating the city with dumpster pools last summer, this season the minds of the Macro Sea design firm suggest you bring a date to a recycling soiree where you can pick up a bottle and smash it to smithereens for the environment.Duration: 01:39
In the financial crisis of the 1970s, large sections of New York City were abandoned by landlords and city officials. Residents revitalized their neighborhoods, reclaiming them from decay by turning vacant lots into community gardens. More than 800 gardens tipped neighborhoods away from crime, toward community action, better diets and cleaner environments. The gardens trained a generation of activists and spawned other environmental projects, in New York and overseas. From the EcoTipping Points Project [http://ecotippingpoints.org]
Please subscribe to JamaicaQnzFreak as he was with me on this excursion! http://www.youtube.com/jamaicaqnzfreak The Designline Eco-Saver IV Hybrids will be going to Michael J Quill Depot. It was tested on routes like the M42, M27, M50, M98 and now testing on the M9! A 35ft version of this bus was tested and it was successful, hence allowing the order of the new Designline buses. About 30 or so buses will be at MJQ with the possibility of knocking off some of the TMCs that they have. Only up to 8 buses will be here by this year and running in service. Engine and Transmission specifications are as follows Capstone C30 MicroTurbine Bosch Rexroth 120kW Traction Motors This is by far the most quiet hybrid out in service today. The Orion VII OGs & NGs are noisemakers compared to these bus...
